GayEXP: KEXP Takes Over Wild Rose

Starting June 28th, KEXP will be partnering with WildRose bar to curate a musical event weekend highlighting queer femme artists in the Pacific Northwest. This will be the second year KEXP has partnered with Pride for an event, but the first time partnering with WildRose– seemingly Seattle’s lone lesbian bar. The three-day event will include live performances by Adra Boo, Mandate, Mirrorgloss, and Seattle Central’s own Chanarah. When live music is not on the stage, several different DJ’s will keep the crowd moving all day and night. The commotion will be sure to last well into the closing event- the Booty Shaking Contest on Sunday. WildRose is located at 1021 E Pike Street, right next to Castle Adult Megastore and across from the Unicorn bar, on Capitol Hill.

This is one of many different events highlighting the lesbian community of Seattle for Pride weekend. Listed below are several different events that are curated by, in support of, or highlighting this often overlooked contingent within the LGBTQIA+ community.

These events include the Dyke March crew hosting Out Dancing at Century Ballroom just after Trans Pride on Friday June 28th.. More events kick off noon on Saturday the 29th at Seattle Central College . The campus will host games until 5pm, then a rally with speakers and performers until 7pm. This lesbian-led series of events will conclude with the Dyke March, led by Seattle Dykes Who Ride, or Dykes on Bikes. Later that evening, and just after the GayEXP event at WildRose, Neighbours nightclub will host Hot Flash– a ladies’ dance night. The Dyke March crew will surely make an energetic presence at the Seattle Storm game Sunday evening to wrap up Pride at the University of Washington.
