Preview Roundup: Seattle Theatre Group Presents

Have you made any plans for the upcoming months? Well, I have a few suggestions you can add to your planner. There are a lot of exciting events taking place at the Moore, Paramount, and Neptune theatres throughout the next couple months.

October’s lineup

Starting off the lineup with events in the month of October, I want to showcase in preparation for your next theatre experience.

Whether you are looking to celebrate the spooky season or just looking for something to do during the rest of the month, these upcoming events may bring you not only joy, but many other emotions.

On Oct. 17, the Moore Theatre presents one of the main staple shows, that might bring the audience back to their grandparents house: A live show of the “Wheel of Fortune”, which recently had a host change from Pat Sajak to Ryan Seacrest, where members of the audience will be picked at random in the crowd, playing with a replicated version of the iconic wheel, testing the public’s luck.

Next up is a showing of a silent film at the Paramount Theatre, celebrating the spooky season. On Oct. 28, you can come see “The Phantom of the Opera” during Seattle’s Silent Film Mondays, the first one of the 2024/2025’s series that represents the 1920s/1930s cinematic era, with live accompaniment of the Paramount Theatre’s mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

I’m sure you may be confused, picturing the musical created by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but this is actually the namesake movie that most likely inspired the famous Broadway musical.

To conclude the October lineup, supported by the Black Heart Procession, Modest Mouse will be performing at the Paramount Theatre on Oct. 30.

Modest Mouse is a Washingtonian band, formed in 1993 in Issaquah. Some of their well-known songs are “Strangers to Ourselves,” “No One’s First,” and “You’re Next,” among others.

November Lineup
In the month of November, the two most anticipated events are the staging of the Broadway musical “Wicked,” lasting throughout the whole month, and an orchestrated performance of a cartoon that has been regaining popularity within the recent years, “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

Running from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1, this is the sixth time “Wicked” will be at the Paramount Theatre, onstage at the same time as the new movie adaptation premiers, starring world-renowned pop star Ariana Grande, and EGOT actress Cynthia Erivo.

A 10-time Tony award-winning musical, “Wicked” follows Elphaba and Glinda, also known as the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch, in the “Wizard of Oz.”
As they attend Shiz university, Elphaba and Glinda start out as enemies, expressing “Loathing, unadulterated loathing” through the song “What is This Feeling.” As the musical goes on, they end up going very different ways, as Elphaba goes completely wicked. Glinda continues on the good path,  and joins the Wizard to bring down Elphaba.

The final event premiers on Nov. 9, a live orchestrated accompaniment to a showing of “Avatar, the Last Airbender,” at the Moore Theatre. The performance includes iconic scenes and music scores from the animated series, composed and arranged by Jeremy Zuckerman, an Emmy Award-winning composer, following the journey of Aang and taking the audience on an emotional rollercoaster.

Hopefully, you have now been convinced to attend one or all of these very anticipated, and make the upcoming holiday season one to remember.
