Photo essay: Feminists for Jina rally for international women’s rights

The Seattle branch of Feminists for Jina, “a group of intersectional and internationalist feminists from Iran in diaspora and exile,” gathered at Westlake Park today, Mar. 4, 2023, for a rally. The “Woman, Life, Freedom” rally served to show “support of the ongoing feminist revolution in Iran, stand in solidarity with women, trans, non-binary, queer, and other oppressed people from all backgrounds across the globe, and defend their right to bodily autonomy and a life free from discrimination and violence,” according to an Instagram post. In light of International Women’s Day, March 8, as well as the recent suspected poisoning of Iranian girls attending school, participants spread solidarity through multilingual chanting, singing, and a dance performance dedicated to amplifying the voices of women across the world.
