The on-campus bookstores of all three Seattle Colleges have effectively closed this summer, and will remain closed in the future. Follet, previous bookstore management vendor for Seattle Colleges, terminated its contract on Aug. 6.
“Each college is determining how to best serve the needs of their students,” stated Seattle Colleges’ Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations Julienne DeGeyter, in an email addressing the transition on Aug. 7.
Starting this Fall, Seattle Central’s bookstore will operate entirely online, under new provider Akademos by VitalSource, and will only offer digital materials for the duration of the quarter, according to Seattle Central College’s webpage.
To purchase and access bookstore materials this Fall, students must create an account with the new provider, search for their required material, and select an access duration period before completing the order. Detailed instructions can be found here. To access the bookstore, click here.
For in-person support, students may visit the Computer Center in 3148, in the Broadway Edison Building, open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. For online support, the college offers a video tutorial, as well as VitalSource’s online support page.
